Dr. Aris C. Lindsey, 91, died August 24, 2010 at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Washington, Georgia and lived in Vero Beach for 56 years coming from Athens, Georgia.

Dr. Lindsey served in the US Army during World War II, as an Army Ranger. He was a POW and received a Purple Heart.

He was this area's first veterinarian and had earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia, Athens.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Palmer of Greenville, NC, Susan Beuttell of Vero Beach, sisters, Ann Bennett of Augusta, GA, Caroline Tidwell of Woodbury, GA, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Robert Wallace Lindsey and his wife Rae Deacon Lindsey.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held 5 7 PM on August 29, 2010, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
