Altoona Mirror, 9 April 1917:
"Mrs. Jacob H. Black, a sister of Mrs. D.N. Hanley, Mrs. Fred Gast, and Clay Bowser, all of this city, died at her home at Homewood, Pa., at 7:35 o'clock yesterday morning of uremia. She had been ill for some time. She was born May 7, 1864, and is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. John Hinkle of Homestead, and Esther at home. In addition to those named above, she is survived by these brothers, Harry Bowser of Oil City and James Bowser of Arkansas. The remains will be brought to this city Tuesday morning and taken to Grace Lutheran church, where services will be conducted at 10:15 o'clock by Rev. M.H. Krumbine. Interment in Eldorado cemetery."
