The youngest of four children, he was born at home in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, California on May 12, 1920. He had a successful career in hardware sales and real estate, and was loved and admired by his many friends and family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet, and five loving children and their spouses - Connie Christensen of San Juan Capistrano; Nancy Adam of Montreal, Quebec; Teri Fonseca of San Leandro, California; Rick Chalmers of Mission Viejo; and Trace Chalmers of Irvine. Dick had thirteen adoring grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and was also dearly loved by his stepsons, John LaGourgue and Kenny LaGourgue and their families.
A visitation will be held at Pacific View Mortuary, Corona del Mar, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2009.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the same location.
