Russell D. Clark, age 81 of Carp Lake passed away Friday, December 11, 2009 at his home. He was born October 14, 1928 in Petoskey to Donald and Helena (Brewster) Clark.
Russ was a combat wounded veteran serving his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a "Frogman" on the Underwater Demolition Team. Upon his discharge from the service, he married Dorothy Roll in St. Clair Shores on November 8, 1952.

Russ worked for the Chrysler Corporation, J.L. Hudson and finally Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan in the Methods and Analysis Division as Senior Management. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #1146 in St. Clair Shores, was very involved in the Paradise Lake Association and was known by his friends as the "Mayor" of Carp Lake.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Carp Lake, two children, David (Diane) Clark of St. Clair Shores and Kimberly (Mark) Stecko of Dearborn Heights and two grandsons, Charles and Christopher Clark, both of Sterling Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan. Burial will take place in the spring at Carp Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Russ' name may be directed to the Paradise Lake Association or the charity of one's choice.
