Rachel C. Smith, 84, of Watson Memorial Home, died at 4:35 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 20, 2001) in Beverly Healthcare-Kinzua Valley. She was born March 28, 1917, in North Warren, the daughter of Joseph Carbaugh and Ruth Hill Carbaugh Johnson. She retired in 1979 from GTE Sylvania where she had been employed for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons: Thomas Smith of Tiona and Robert Smith of North Warren; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Smith, who died Jan. 5, 1972; a grandson, Billy Smith; and a brother, Royce Carbaugh.
