Mrs. Martha Wickes (sic) Abbott died at the home of her brother-in-law, Henry Hulbert, on Wednesday, June 1, 1898, aged 40 years, 2 months and 27 days. She with her husband, was on her way from Adair county (sic), Iowa, to Colorado, seeking relief from that dread disease, consumption, and stopped off here to visit her relatives. She leaves a husband and four children, two boys and two girls. The funeral was held from Mr. Henry Hulbert's yesterday at two o'clock p.m., conducted by Rev. U.G. Brown, and the interment took place in the Chester cemetery (sic).
