She was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Paintersville, the daughter of Phillip and Coral (Deamer) Guss. She married Wayne E. Appleby Sr. in 1937, in Burham. He died Dec. 25, 1970.
Mrs. Appleby was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
She was companion for Blair Senior Services Inc. and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary, Duncansville. She enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Appleby was a 1932 graduate of Lewistown High School.
Surviving are two sons: Wayne E. Jr. of Elyria, Ohio, and Kenneth R. of Hollidaysburg; a brother, Lyman Guss of Lewistown; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
