He was killed in a fall from the loading dock of the Linde Air Products Company. He was the brother of Police Sergeant, W.B.Spurgeon, who was rushed to the hospital to be with his brother. X-ray photographs failed to reveal that Spurgeon sustained a broken neck as was first believed.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie; two sons, John Paul and Michael Lee; a daughter, Marion Kay Spurgeon; two brothers, W.B. Spurgeon and J.R.Spurgeon, all of Dallas, and three sisters, Mrs. Stanley Layton of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Kenneth Walker and Mrs. Bob Mansfield, both of California.
