Funeral services for J D Brewer, 82, were held at Vandever Baptist Church Friday at 10 a.m. with burial at the Tom Davis cemetery near Vandever.
Mr Brewer, who had been ill for several months, suffered a stroke Monday around 10 p.m. and never regained consciousness, but passed away Wednesday at 9 a.m.
He was born January 28, 1872 in Bledsoe county. He married Ollie Nimo in 1894 and they had 3 children. After her death, he married Anna Davis in 1905 and they had 10 children, all surviving except 2, Lee and Oscar.
Surviving are Walter, Iva Bates, Akron, Oh; Clay, Wooster, Oh; Mrs Herbert Potter, Harriman; Virgil, Milo, Homer, Edgar, Gordon, Mrs Emerson Stone, Mrs Frank Blaylock, all of Vandever; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charley; one half-brother, John Sweat.
Mr Brewer was a farmer and he served as Justice of the Peace in the County Court for 16 years.
