Mrs. Aultum appears to have lost most all of her family before she died. Her husband had died in 1855 and most likely her young son Thomas, who would have been under five years of age. Jacob died during the civil war; daughters Catherine Gunning died in 1870 and Sina Young died about 1877. Son Albertus, not listed in the 1850 or 1860 censuses, but as an heir in his father's 1855 will, probably died before 1860.
Howard County death records state Mrs. Aultum died of heart trouble on February 27, 1893 and was buried in Crown Point Cemetery on March 1, 1893. She is buried among the Gunning family plots and lies next to her great grandson, Harvey Gunning. It is presumed that her husband Riley Aultum and other deceased family members were buried in the now defunct Pioneer Cemetery in Kokomo
