He was a resident and native of St. Francisville. W.J. died at 3:38 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at the age of 58.
Visitation was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, St. Francisville, with a rosary service and Mass of the Resurrection, with the Rev. Charlie Landry officiating. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Parker Smith of St. Francisville; mother, Verdie K. Smith of Hamburg; a daughter, Jennifer Smith and fiancé, Jack E. Duvernay of New Orleans; two sons, Joseph Bradley Smith and wife Robyn Smith of Baton Rouge and Jared Smith of St. Francisville;
two sisters, Lois and husband Ronald Chaves and Ezilda Smith, all of Baton Rouge;
four brothers, Eddie K. Smith Jr. of Baton Rouge, Jimmy and wife Francis Smith of Belleville, Ill., Stanley and wife Barbie Smith of Calhoun and Carl and wife Annie Smith of St. Francisville;
and three grandchildren, Braeden, Parker and Lily Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie K. Smith Sr.
Pallbearers will be Mike Berry, Mitch and Mike Kimble, Charles "ChooChoo" Bennett, Dale Plauché, Shane Smith, Wade Weller and Butch Jones.
