The double funeral of the late Mrs. E.A. (Edna) Case and Miss. Lillian Emery was held at 10 o'clock this morning. Brief services were conducted by Rev. W. L. Farnum at the respective homes of the deceased sisters on Hazelton and Smith streets, and the two herses were followed by the members of the bereaved family to Avondale Cemetery, where the remains of the sisters who had been united in death were placed side by side in the same lot.

Sad deaths of two sisters Miss Lillian Emery died at 9 o'clock last night at her home on Smith street, and at 3 o'clock this morning her sister, Mrs. A.E. Case, passed away at her home on Hazelton street. The deceased were daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. [James and Susan] Emery, of 203 Smith street, who will have the sympathy of the entire community in their double affliction. Miss Emery was 21 years of age and highly esteemed by all within the circle of her acquaintance. She was taken with scarlet fever some four weeks ago and was on the way to recovery when she suffered a relapse that terminated in her death. Mrs. Case was 37 years old and leaves three bright little children-one boy and two girls--the eldest of whom is eleven years old, to mourn the loss of a good mother who, deserted by her husband, had worked heroically for their maintenance until she finally succumbed to the fatal disease--acute nephritis--that had fastened itself upon her. During her illness Mrs. Case had been dependant upon the kindness of friends who did not fail her in her time of need. The double funeral of the deceased sisters will be held on Saturday at 10 o'clock and will be private. At some time in the near future, however, memorial services to which all the friends of the deceased will be invited will be held at the Baptist church.
