Melzena Fair, the eldest daughter of Hezekiah and Martha Jane Fair, was born November 13, 1863 in Cass County, Indiana, and received her education in the schools of the community. She united with the Spring Creek Christian Church when about 18 years of age and about 1886 came to Kokomo and united with the Main Street Christian Church to which she has been a devoted member and for about 23 years a faithful member of the 20th Century Class.
On September 13, 1893, she was united in marriage to Samuel R. Beamon. To this union four children were born, three of which preceded her in death when they were but infants and one daughter, Mrs. Edith Berry with the husband two granddaughters, Dorothy and Catherine Berry; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Gringeich of Adamsboro, Indiana and Mrs. Bessie Sellers of Alto; and four brothers, Will Fair of Bakersfield, California, Charley Fair of Carrolton, Missouri, Park Fair of Earl Park, Indiana, and Albert Fair of Denver, Indiana, survive her.
She departed this life April 12, 1925, age 61 years, 5 months, and 29 days and leaves the surviving relatives as named besides many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her departure.
Mrs. Beamon was a kind and loving wife and mother, devoted to her two granddaughters, and always ready with a helping hand in time of need. Many a sick person has been soothed by her touching hand, and many a person comforted in the house of death.
