He entered active service with the U.S. Navy on April 1, 1944 at New Oxford, Pennsylvania.
He served aboard the USS Sicard (DM-21), a light minelayer, from July 16, 1944 to October 5, 1945.
He received his discharge from the Navy on October 16, 1945 at Bainbridge, Maryland.
He was originally from Littlestown, Pennsylvania.
He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on October 5, 1959.
