Julie Spencer Dies Tuesday

Julia L. Spencer, 98, died Tuesday at the Glendive Community Hospital. She had lived at the General Nursing Home for the past five years.

She was born Dec. 29, 1868 at Rush River, Wis., where she spent her early life.

On Jan. 27, 1890, she married Walter Spencer at River Falls, Wis. They had six children, five of whom preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer had a diary farm in Wisconsin until 1910 when they moved to Montana where they have ranched and farmed in the Clear Creek area. They later farmed at Union and Bloomfield. They retired and moved to Trout lake, Wash.

Spencer preceded her in death in 1929. She moved to Circle that year and lived there until she moved to Glendive five years ago.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by a daughter Mrs. Leonard Berg, Portland, Ore.; a brother Harry Wilhelm, River Falls; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
