Madge Hughes
Madge L. Hughes, 61, 1001 E. 12th St.. died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Hughes was born Oct. 29, 1933, at Miami, Okla., where she was a member of the Cherokee Nation. She had lived most of her life in Joplin. She was a beautician for 35 years and had operated the former LaRay's World of Beauty, Webb City, for several years.

She was a member of the World Wide Church of God, Joplin. She was a member of the National Hairdressers Association and Fun-Tastic Dance Club. She was formerly active in the Girl Scouts, Brownies and had served on the Parent Teachers Association board in Joplin. She was also a member of the Joplin Saddle Club.

She married Louie Hughes on June 25, 1981. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Hughes, of the home, and Penny Flick, Joplin; two sisters, Dougherty Kelly, Merced, Calif., and Helen Benner, state of California; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at Simpson Funeral Home, Webb City.

Services for Madge L. Hughes, 61, 1001 E. 12th St., who died Saturday, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home, Webb City.

Dan King, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.

Pallbearers will be Louie Ray, Preston Kiefer, Mike McQuade, Lawrence Kline, Bill Caldwell and Hershel Butler.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
