Daughter of James I. & Cintha (SIZEMORE/ GHOLSON) ASKEW, who married 11 SEP 1819, probably in Putnam County, Georgia. Lucinda married 24 JUL 1842 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Jonathan McCLUNG (son of John Lewis McCLUNG, born ca. 1793, & Rebecca NIX). Mother.

Husband Jonathan McCLUNG who married second on 29 MAR 1885 in Marion County, Georgia, to Elizabeth BENSON.

"Going to Texas. // Messrs. William ASKEW, John HARRIS, John ASKEW, James ANDERSON, William BAILEY, Frank BLAND, and Mrs. Noah WADDLE, accompanied by their respective families, are in the city. The party numbers about forty and are from Marion and Chattahoochee counties. They will leave for their future home, in St. Augustine county, Tex., this morning. The party is under the leadership of Mr. William ASKEW, a blind man. Most of the party belong to Mr. ASKEW's family." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Tuesday, 08 NOV 1887, p. 4. SIZEMORE, JOHNSON, and GREER families also went from Chattahoochee County to San Augustine County, TX, around this time.]

Probably Jonathan's nephew: Morgan H. McCLUNG, married male (wife Mae McCLUNG), son of Hiram McCLUNG [evidently Jonathan's brother] & Lizzie BENSON, died 01 MAR 1973, aged 87 years, in Phenix City, Russell County, Alabama, from Family History Library film entry #2242017. Hiram McCLUNG married 17 FEB 1880 in Talbot County, Georgia, to Sallie ADAMS.

Jonathan's brother Thomas (born ca. 1837) is possibly the Thomas McCLUNG who married 24 SEP 1876 in Marion County, Georgia, to Annie HARRIS, and may be this Thomas McCLUNG.

Lucinda ASKEW b. 1822, m. 24 JUL 1842, in Muscogee Co, GA, to Jonathan McCLUNG, b. ca. 1825, (son of John Lewis McCLUNG and Rebecca NIX) buried: Marion Co, GA, at Old Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery. You can see them living together in Marion Co. in 1900 with their two young sons. James Jackson McClung's obituary mentions them both as half-brothers. . . It does make one wonder about the accuracy of the headstone though, doesn't it? The record I've seen is for Jonathan and Elizabeth marrying in March 1885, which makes me suspect that Lucinda died in 1884, rather than that he married before she died in June.
