Elizabeth (Beth) Hurst Kartchner
Elizabeth (Beth) Hurst Kartchner , passed away July 13, 1996 of natural causes.

Born October 2, 1902 at Colonia Dublan Chi, Mexico, a daughter of Geroge Arthur and Mary Terry Hurst. She emigrated to the U.S. with her family in two covered wagons, arriving in Grayson (now Blanding, Utah) in May of 1911.

Married to Silas D. Kartchner, December 2, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 30, 1968.

An active member of the LDS Church, she served in the Primary Association as a teacher, especially for boys, and Primary Stake Board. Active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She moved with her husband and three children to Salt Lake City in 1937 and had resided here since.

An avid reader and traveler, she gave book reports and lectures on the various countries she traveled in.

Survivors are sons, S. Hal (Nita) of South Jordan; John H. (Amelia-Katie) of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Betty K. (Robert) Bengtzen of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wm. R. Hurst, Blanding, Utah; sister, Gwen Jones, Provo.
