Ocala - Cressie M. Spencer Bland, 82, formerly, of Ocala, FL, went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2009 under hospice care in Ocala following a short hospital stay in Orlando where she was under the loving care of family and fighting Parkinson's disease. Cressie was born at home on February 1, 1927 in Titusville, FL to Arch Jasper Mefford and Bessie Elva Jolly. Cressie and her husband moved to the Ocala area in the mid-1970's, purchased Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens and opened Archway Funeral Home and Flower Shop so the combined businesses would better serve the Ocala area. Cressie was an accomplished pianist, artist, writer, and loving homemaker to her family. Member of Faith Primitive Baptist Church, she believed in the Lord and was a woman of Grace. Cressie is survived by her first husband Herman L. Spencer of Ocala, FL and her husband of later years, Carl E. Bland of Tampa and Green Cove Springs, FL along with two sons: H. Lamar Spencer and wife Faye of Ponte Verde, FL and Stanley Reed Spencer and wife Leslie of Summerfield, FL; a daughter: Patricia Ann Zindler of Orlando, FL; and six grandchildren: Lisa K. Gillum, Stacey Bates, Audrey Zindler, Herman Zindler, Cassidy Robinson and Courtney Spencer. Cressie was predeceased by her son, Grady Arch Spencer in 1977. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 1:30PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL with entombment at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, Ocala, FL. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 11:00AM till the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 South Pine Ave, Ocala, FL.
