Dodd, Sarah, P.O. Carpentersville, residence, Section 26; born March 27, 1817, in Stokes County, N.C.; daughter of Philip Stultz, born in Stokes County, N.C., died 1841, and Catherine Ketner-Stultz, born in same county, same State, died about 1864, who settled in this county in 1832, on Section 33 of this township. She was married December 18, 1833, in this township [Franklin], to Woodson P. Dodd, the son of John and Mary Dodd, natives of Franklin County, Va., where their son Woodson was born December 9, 1808. Mr. Dodd came to this county a poor man, but his energy and the assistance of his industrious wife served to him land amounting to 198 acres; he died December 23, 1876, leaving behind an honored reputation. Mrs. Dodd is the eighth in a family of eleven children, and has herself had ten--Marion, born July 26, 1835; Julia Ann, born July 18, 1837; Lioney, born June 26, 1839; Jane, born September 4, 1841; Tazwell, born January 11, 1844; Margaret C., born August 14, 1846, died in 1850; john, born February 2, 1849; Ennis, born December 13, 1851, died in 1853; Anderson R., born May 11, 1854, died in 1870; Marshall J., born July 6, 1857.
