Frances "Fran" Bronson, 97, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 9 at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born October 8, 1912 in Waterloo, daughter of Floyd Lee and Catherine C. Schmidt Stanton. She married Steve C. Bronson on September 27, 1941 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died January 28, 1970.
She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy and attended Gates Business College. She owned and managed Steve C. Bronson Insurance until 1993 and worked at Homestead House for many years.
She was a charter member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
Survived by four sons, Robert of Waterloo, Thomas of Asheville, North Carolina, John of Kauai, Hawaii, and Peter (Ellen) of Bellflower, California; and five grandchildren.
Preceded in death by six sisters, Pearl Werner, Sister Mary Leocadia O.S.F, Mildred Koch, Ferne Dybsjord, Marguerite Fitzgerald-Piper, and Kathryn Crawford; and one brother, Rev. Floyd Lee Stanton, S.J.
Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4:00 p.m. rosary and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. No visitation at the church on Wednesday.
