LIBERTY — Mr. Grady Lawrence Allen, 83, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Bethel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park with Rev. Thomas Jolly officiating.
Mr. Allen was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in Surry County and was a graduate of Providence High School. Mr. Allen was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a life member of Moose Lodge #685. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling.
He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Geneva Hunt Allen, and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Allred Allen; sons, Robert L. Allen and wife, Donna, of Chester, Va., Richard M. Allen and wife, Cynthia, of Climax; grandchildren, Christopher Allen and wife, Amy, Cory Allen and wife, Cathy, John Allen, David Allen; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, Michael and Daniel.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel.
