RESIDED HERE SINCE l905 - BATTLEFORD - Mrs. Annie Clara BALLENDINE, who had lived in Battleford since l905, died in the Notre Dame Hospital on October 9th after a brief illness. She was 69 years of age and prior to her death, was residing with her daughter in North Battleford..Her husband, Robert James BALLENDINE, predeceased her in l938.
Born on March l7th, l889, at Fort Saskatchewan, the former Annie Souvie lived there for a time and in Edmonton before coming down to Battleford to live in the Eagle Hills. She was married in l906 at St. Vital's Catholic Church to "Jimmy" Ballendine, one of the two grandsons of Peter Ballendine.
Rev. Father Beckler celebrated the requiem Mass for Mrs. Ballendine at St. Vital's Roman Catholic Church on October l4. The pallbearers were Jospeh Guthrie, Wm. Pritchard, Frank, Walter and John Ballendine and Raymond Hascheit.
She is survived by one son, Mahoney of Battleford; five daughters: Mrs. H. Riseing (Helen), North Battleford; Mrs. J. Turchanek (Mabel); and Mrs. V. Bartholomew (Bertha), Edmonton; Mrs. Wm. Wilson (Irene) Saskatoon; Mrs. D. Skinner (Maude), San Diego, California; 2l grandchildren and four great-grand children; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of Sallows and Boyd and internment was made in the Battleford Town cemetery.
