Mrs. MAHALA T. POWELL - 85, widow of J.T. Powell, lifelong resident of this county died at th home of a daughter, Mrs. D. L. Parris of Spartanburg route 1 at 8:25 o'clock Tuesday night after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be conducted from the Boiling Springs Baptist church at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev. J.G. Wood. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Powell was born and reared in this county. She had been a member othe Boiling Springs Baptist Church for many years. She is survived by the following children: J.R. Powell of Inman, route 1; W.D. Powell of Valley Falls; G.A. Powell of route 2; Fred Powell of Campobello, route 1; Mrs D.L. Parris of Spartanburg, route 1; Bookter Powell of Inman, route 1; Miss May Powell, Spartanburg , route 1; and H.C. Powell of Spartanburg; one sister, Mrs. John Sprinkles of Whitney; also 34 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be grandsons Howard Powell, Julius Powell, Ernest Powell, Milton Powell, Hilton Powell, and James Powell. The body is at the home of Mrs. D.L. Parris. Arrangements are in charge of M.W. Bobo funeral chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. A.D. Cudd, Dr. W.H. Chapman, C.C.L. Finch, W.M.Seay, Jack Brannon, Charlie Chapman, J.M. Jackson, and Henry Thomas.
