ATHOL - Alfred S. Mundell, Jr., 77, of Athol, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Athol, on Sept. 5, 1928, the son of the late Alfred S. and the late Gladys (Kendall) Mundell, Sr.
He worked at the Kelly Shoe Company, Earthly Shoe and Tyler Mill.
He was a member of the Athol V.F.W. Post 650, a lifetime member of the Franco American Club in Athol and enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling and softball.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Seaman First Class in the Navy.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Donald and Harry, and three sisters, Virginia, Lois and Harriett.
He leaves two sons, Alfred S. Mundell, III of Clarkesville, TN, Larry G. Mundell of Clarkesville, TN; three sisters, Blanche White of Athol, Beverly Hains of Athol, Charlette Whitley of Maine; three brothers, James Mundell of Toronto, Canada, George Mundell of Idaho, John Mundell of Athol; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. in Highland Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Fiske Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
