Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Dr. Fred O. Elder and Mildred Ricker Elder. She graduated from Marblehead High School and Chandler Secretarial School.
Mrs. Goodwin was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in North Conway, N.H., and a resident of Intervale, N.H., for more than 30 years. Her husband, William K. Goodwin, was a manager of the Marblehead Light Department for many years before retiring to Intervale. He predeceased her in 1992.
She is survived by two sons, William Goodwin Jr. of Winchester and Daniel Goodwin of Marblehead; three daughters-in-law, Barbara, Nancy and Sunny; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a third son, Randolph E. Goodwin of Marblehead, in 2000; and by a granddaughter, Meredith G. Benfer of Richmond, Va., who died in a tragic car accident in May of this year.
