JOSEPH HAROLD LUCAS, 74, Mt. Washington, died at 3:20 p.m. June 13, 2007, at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville. Born April 23, 1933 in Nelson County, Lucas was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired in 1997 from General Electric Appliance Park after 37 years. He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Henry and Octavia Beatrice Mattingly Lucas; two sisters, Mary Venita Delgado and Margaret Ann Lucas; and two brothers, James Lawrence "Sonny" and Mark Anthony "Tony" Lucas. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Geraldine "Gerri" Riggs Lucas; four children and spouses, Wayne and Cathi Lucas of Louisville, Donna and Chris Parr of Brooklyn, Mich., Karen Hudson and Joyce Pace of Louisville and Mark and Mary Lucas of New Hope; two sisters, Frances Goldman of Mt. Washington and Mary Ellen Mattingly of St. Francis; a brother, James "Roy" Lucas of Springfield; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 18, 2007, at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, with burial in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, New Hope. Deacon Edward Hutchins officiated. Military rites were performed at the cemetery by the Marion County Honor Guard. Pallbearers were: Joseph and Aaron Lucas, Luke Moore, Jeffrey Hudson, Chris Mudd and Alicia Parr. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Meagan, Rebekah, Amber and James Lucas and Lee Anne Weppler. Mattingly Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
