DAVID C. SOMMER (Dave) entered into heaven's gates on December 18, 2009. He was 69. He was born April 11, 1940 in Memphis, TN. He lived in Southaven, MS. He was a retired Construction business owner and retired from Teamsters Joint Council 42 in Covina, CA. He was an avid Memphis Tiger fan and he loved his family more than anything else
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vernice Pinkston, step father John C. Pinkson and his father Carl E. Sommer.
Dave will live on in the lives of many friends and family.
He leaves one daughter, Cindy Cates, her husband TJ of Olive Branch, MS, three sons David Sommer Jr., Eddy Sommer, his wife, Akemi and Ricky Sommer, his wife Tina all of Southaven, MS., one sister Barbara Matthews of Pomona, CA. He had nine grandchildren, Heath Toliver, Colt Toliver, Sarah Sommer, Samantha Sommer, Muchan (Edward) Sommer, Megumi Sommer, Morgan Mize, Brayden Sommer, Zach Cates and three great grand children who all lovingly called him 'Hampaw'.
Visitation will be Monday, December 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with memorial service Tuesday, December 22nd at 10:30 a.m. both at Getwell Road United Methodist Church in Southaven. The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of David C.
