Lee Grant Furner, age 72, passed away surrounded by his loved ones Feb. 17, 2003 of natural causes.

Grant was born in Salt Lake City, UT, Oct. 20, 1930 to George Thomas and Sarah Ruth Furner. He was the seventh of nine children. He had a great love of sports throughout his life. He was athletically gifted and served as Student Body President of South High School Class of '49. He was known as "Mr. South High" to many of his friends. His love of his classmates has carried him through the years. It was there that he met and fell in love with his eternal sweetheart, Helen Adam. Grant served in the Korean War 1951 - 1953. Grant and Helen were married May 16, 1953 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was blessed with four wonderful children, Lisa (David) Fairbrother, Dan (Susan) Furner, Tim (Susan) Furner and Cathy (Tyler) Baron, and 15 beautiful grandchildren.

Grant served faithfully in the Bishopric of the Little Cottonwood 6th Ward and various other Church callings. He loved his cabin in the woods, Broadway musicals, storytelling with his grandchildren, creating stained glass windows, but most of all, being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, his four children and 15 grandchildren, his brothers, George, Boyd, Fred and Ron. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ben and Taylor, sisters, Maxine and Ruth.

The funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Brownstone Chapel, 6410 S. 725 E., Murray, Utah. Friends may call Thursday evening at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 So.
