He was 76 years old. He came to Globe by wagon in 1885. He engaged in mining, cattle ranching and farming, as well as merchandising in Mexico. In 1902 he started a transfer business, to which he gave his entire attention until his retirement. Then he worked at odd jobs of carpentry to occupy his time. He was a member of the old Arizona Pioneers' Association and of the Knights of Pythias lodge. He was survived by his wife, Lula Higdon of Globe; three step children, Glen Ellison and Edward Ellison and Mrs. Lena Fye.
