Thelma Gertrude Sammons Blevins, age 75, of Helenwood, Tenn., died July 16, 1995, at her home following an extended illness. Born in Zenith, Tenn., February 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Sylvanna Litton Sammons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death also by her first husband, Robert "Bob" Ellis; daughter, Irene Ellis Pearson; infant daughter, Alice Faye Ellis; one sister, Elizabeth Sammons Hill, and three brothers: Andrew, Sherman and Elmer Sammons. She was a member of the Bethalonia United Baptist Church. She is survived by the husband, George W. Blevins; four daughters: Phyllis Laxton and husband, John of Spokane, Wa.; Hattie Reed and husband, Jim of Glendale, Ore.; Barbara Williams of Titusville, Fla., and Linda Goodman of Oneida; two sons, Bob Ellis and wife, Betty Ann of Glendale, Ore., and Bobby Ellis and wife, Becky of Cleveland, Tenn.; four step-daughters: Ova Terry and husband, Cordell, Eva Walters and husband, Frank, Brenda Burk and husband, Ethal, all of Oneida, and Grace Choate and husband, Dooley, of Jamestown, Tenn.; four step-sons: Conrad Blevins and wife, Doris; Bob Blevins and wife, Laura, all of Muncie, Ind.; Larry Blevins and wife, Brenda of Jamestown, Tenn., and Dennis Blevins and wife, Maudie, of Oneida; three sisters, Delta Vaught of California, Ky.; Myrtle Strunk of Stearns, Ky., and Kattie Jarrett of W. Va.; one brother, Harold Sammons of Whitley City, Ky.; eighteen grandchildren, including Anna and Jenny Goodman of Oneida; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 19, 1995, in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.D. Burke and Rev. Bill Free officiating. Special music was provided by the Williams Creek Choir. Interment followed in the Opossum Rock Cemetery. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of arrangements
