Carrie was the daughter of James Lawrence Green and Mary Susan Boyles. She was born in Milam County, Texas, where the Green family lived for several years. They were both Texas natives.

Carrie married Lee Layette Boyd on 22 Oct 1916 in Belcherville, Montague County, Texas. Carrie and Lee had the following children: Nellie Beatrice, Robert E. Lee, and Mary Louise. All three children were born in Nocona, Montague County, Texas.

Carrie and her family moved in the local area. According to her obit, she moved to Nocona in 1921 and to Wichita Falls in 1942. She had also made her home for a time in Bluegrove.

At the time of her death, Carrie was living with her daughter Nellie (Mrs. Ernest Mack Bobbitt). She had been has been ill for about 3 years and had been with Nellie for the last year.

Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice Bobbitt of Archer City and Mrs. Mary Louise Ellis of Henrietta; a son Robert L. Boyd, Bowie; and two sisters, Mrs. A. B. Brown, Burleson; and Mrs. Nealie Little, Lincoln, Arkansas.

Services were conducted by Rev. Linley Vowell, assisted by Rev. W. D. Craig, retired Methodist minister from Nocona. With burial in Nocona Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Jim Crow, Kamay; Bill Crow, Archer City; Bryce Walker, Bowie; W. D. Harnbeck, Wichita Falls; Lonnie Peden, Bluegrove; Jesse Byrd, Bluegrove; Clift Duckworth, Iowa Park; Freddie Thomas, Wichita Falls.
