EMMA LEE "SHORTY" BALLENGER

Emma Lee "Shorty" Ballenger, 82, of Sulphur was born May 3, 1925, in Holdenville to James Harrison and Laura Ada (Holt) Stout and died Jan. 2, 2008. Funeral services were Jan. 5 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.

She married Jack E. Ballenger on Nov. 18, 1951, in Sulphur, and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1996. She began working at an early age as a waitress in Archies Cafe. She kept the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church for 40 years and had a day care in her home for years.

She is survived by: her daughter, Mary Brewer of Sulphur; two granddaughters, and a greatgranddaughter.
