Roy graduated from Hampden Academy Class of 1949 before serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corp 1st Marine Amphibian Truck Co. during the Korean War. After Roy's military service he worked for several local companies as a truck driver including Grants Dairy, Suburban Propane, Cole's Express, and St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. in which he retired from. He was an active member of several organizations including Past Master of the Mystic Lodge A.F. & A.M. # 65 of Hampden, Anah Temple Shrine Horse Patrol, and the Good Will Riders Snowmobile Club. Roy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Roy was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 52 years Roberta Holmes Barteaux, and his brother Albert Barteaux. Roy is survived by his daughter, Leah Barteaux, Son Dan Barteaux and wife Mary, grandchildren, Paige, Elaina, Nathan, Jack and Will Barteaux, all of Hampden, as well as many relatives and good friends including those he camped with at Whispering Pines Campground in Orland.
Family and friends may call 5-7 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2009 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, where a funeral service will be held 12 P.M. Tuesday, December, 29, 2009.
