Marvin Albert August Behne 88, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Cedarview Care Center.
He was born April 9, 1921 in Claremont, Minnesota the son of George and Martha (Hargefeld) Behne. Marvin attended Claremont school, and St. John's County School. He started working for William (Bill) and Mabel Jones at the age of 21 farming. He married Bernice Von Ruden on September 27, 1944 at The Associated Church, later joining the church and continuing to be a devoted church member. For several years he was in charge of opening the church and making coffee. Marvin was on the school board for District #91 for 14 years until the country school consolidated into the Owatonna School System. Marvin was also on the Stark's Corner Creamery Board until that later closed. He was also a member of the Eagles, and on the church board. Marvin enjoyed farming, gardening, mowing lawn, cleaning, playing cards, dancing, helping his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He especially enjoyed helping his son Roger on the farm.
He is survived his children, Judy (and Haven) Bauer of Kenyon, June (and Donald) Fisher of Owatonna, Ralph (and special friend Cheryl Seykora) Behne of Owatonna, and Roger Behne of Owatonna. Thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and his sister Rosaline Kinsey of Waukee, IA, also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, brother Clifford, and two sisters Martha Behne, and Roselyn Abrahams.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday December 28 from 4-8 PM and at The Associated Church on Tuesday from 10-11 AM. Funeral service will be held Tuesday December 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at The Associated Church with Dr. Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont.
