Funeral services for Mr. John Burkett, aged 75 years, who died at his home in Nicholls Sunday morning following an extended illness were held Monday afternoon. The services were conducted at the Nicholls Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Rhodes 3:30 p.m. Interment followed at the Meeks Family Cemetery near Nicholls with the Douglas Undertaking company in charge. Mr. Burkett has been a life long resident of the section of where he died and was known throughout the section. In addition to many relatives he is survived by one son, John Burkett, of Savannah and two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Meeks of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Charlie Moore of Nicholls. The deceased had long been prominent in public affairs in the Nicholls vicinity and in the county.
