Mrs. W. D. (Bill) Davis, a resident of Gatesville for more than 40 years, died Saturday morning in the local hospital following a long illness. She was 72.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Scott's Chapel, conducted by Minister M. K. Pullias. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harvey Gene White, Bert Cummings, John Bales, R. Q. Gaston, Pat Hagans and Jimmy Cummings.
Mrs. Davis was born Miss Roby Edith Bales in Tennessee Oct. 3, 1889. She was married to Mr. Davis Oct. 14, 1906, and they lived in the Brown's Crossing community before moving to Gatesville in 1920.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband, W. D. Davis of Gatesville; a son, Billy Davis of Gatesville; one sister, Mrs. Floyd White of Gatesville; and three persons whom she helped rear—Mrs. Ivy Youngblood of Waxahachie, Robert L. Hagans of Houston and Buster Cummings of Dallas.
Two of Mrs. Davis' children died in infancy.
