James Elexander was the eighth born child of twelve known children and the fifth born son of eight known sons born to Albert Lomax Simpson Sr. and Nancy Jane Stogsdill.
He married Louisa Isabelle Davis on 14 February 1895 in Georgetown, Williamson, Texas. This union produced fourteen known children, six daughters and eight sons.
James owned and operated farms in Georgetown, Williamson, Texas, Davilla, Milam, Texas and Austin, Travis, Texas where he farmed until his death in 1955.
