A Carroll County native, Perry Cripe, 97, died Tuesday of last week in a nursing home in Indianapolis where he had been transferred from Community Hospital. The Indianapolis resident had been in ill health only a short time.
Mr. Cripe was born in Pyrmont, and attended Carroll County schools. He operated a grocery store in Ockley for 50 years before moving to Lafayette in the late 1920's. In 1940 he moved to Indianapolis to live with a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Reynolds.
He married Clara Roth who died in 1947.
Surviving with the daughter are another daughter, Mrs. H. K. Riley of Lafayette, La. , and three sons, Joseph J. Cripe of Indianapolis, Gene H. Cripe of Los Angeles, Calif., and William Cripe of Lafayette.
