ERNEST LEWIS, 74, DIES IN WASHINGTON
Washington, D.C., July 2 -- Ernest Irving Lewis, 74 years old, former Indianapolis newspaperman and former chairman of the interstate commerce commission, died here early Tuesday after a short illness. Mr. Lewis was a native of Danville, Indiana, and early in the 20th century worked as a reporter on several Indiana newspapers. He subsequently was named the head of the Indiana public service commission following his work as a business report in Indiana. In 1920 he became associated with the Harding campaign for the presidency and in 1921 was named to the ICC.
