Roscoe E. McCormick, age thirty-nine, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David I. McCormick, Blake Street, of a cerebral hemorrhage which was caused by a wound which he suffered while serving in the United States Army in the Philippine Islands twenty-one years ago.
Mr. McCormick was hit by a bullet fired from a Krag-Jorgensen rifle in the hands of a recruit, the bullet injuring the auditory and optical nerves and, since the accident, Mr. McCormick has been blind in the right eye and deaf in the right ear. The accident occurred March 13, 1899 while McCormick was lying in his bunk. the bullet tore a hole in the back of the skull. Mr. McCormick had lived with his parents in this city since the wounds. He was serving with Company C of the 2d Infantry when wounded, and had only been in the Army a short time.
The parents and two brothers survive. The brothers are Samuel McCormick, who is serving with the 11th Cavalry at San Francisco, and Fred McCormick of Rembrandt Street.
