HOLLY RIDGE - Martha Bakke Batson, 90, of Holly Ridge, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at her home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 pM on Thursday at Barlow Vista Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Barry Nelson officiating.
Mrs. Batson was born and raised in Minnesota, but called NC home for the past 64 years. She was the best mother and grandmother to all and loved by everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin; son, David Keith; brothers, Melvin, Alfred, Andy, Calmer and Lorentz; and sisters, Jo, Selma and Helen.
Survivors include her son, Larry Batson and his wife, Linda; two daughters, Kathi Mason and her husband, Randy and Debbie Guthrie and her husband, Dennis; six grandchildren, Travis, Teresa, David, Sherri, John and Justin; ten great-grandchildren, Casey, Brandon, Tanner, Amber, Katie, Frank, Sydney, David, Ethan and Lilah; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Marlene Hardee and daughter-in-law and good friend, Debbie Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barlow Vista Building Fund or to a charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon following the service, in the Barlow Vista Baptist Church Annex.
