Mrs. Hattie Pearl Hoover, 66, an employee of the Gass Ladies Shop for the last 26 years, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her son, Robert W. Hoover, where she had been living for the last two months since being in failing health. She was seriously ill one week.
Mrs. Hoover was born December 29, 1883, at West Unity, Ohio, to Thomas and Harriet Bowers Smethurst. Her marriage was to John S. Hoover, who died in 1925.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Edward Quickery, Jackson Township; two sons, John T. Hoover, Findlay, Ohio, and Robert W. Hoover, at whose home she died, and four grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are dead.
Mrs. Hoover lived most of her life in Huntington County. She came to this city in 1917 and lived at 504 East Market Street since 1941 until she went to reside with her son. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Builders class of the Sunday School. She was employed as seamstress at the Gass Ladies shop until her recent illness.
The body was removed to the Bailey mortuary where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Bailey mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Paulen officiating.
Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Music was by Mrs. Mary Rowe at the organ. Pallbearers were John Cull, George Broderick, Howard Stewart, Ray Gass, Russell Penney and Ross Rice.
Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.
