Dora E. Bernhart, 86, of 408 Warren Street, Avon, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday (April 14, 2005) at St. Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg.

Born April 22, 1918, in Smithfield, the daughter of Frank and Flossie (Munson) Myers, she married George M. Bernhart on August 30, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa. He died June 10, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, one great-granddaughter, and one brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Wright of Avon and Mrs. Keith (Sharron) Bearce of Abingdon; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Russell (Jo) Myers of Morton, Roland (Eleanor) Myers of Lewistown, and Frank (Linda) Myers of Avon; and four sisters, Ila Sloan of Avon, Helen Stephenson of Avon, Frances Lewis of Abingdon, and Charlotte Blanchard of Seattle, Wash.

She was born and raised in Smithfield. After marriage, she moved to Avon where she had lived her entire life. She and her husband took care of the Avon Cemetery for 20 years.

Services were held at 10 a.m., April 18, at Corman Memorial Home in Avon, the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m., April 17, at the memorial home. Burial was at Avon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her memory.
