Born in Cambridge on February 12, 1941, he was a son of William and Marian (Harris) Copeland Sr. and grew up in Warwick.
Following school, Frederick worked at the former Orange Foundry for 26 years and then went to work at the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol for 18 years, retiring in 2003.
Known as "Mr. Fudge Man" for his delicious homemade fudge, the children especially enjoyed going to his home on Halloween for his confections.
Devoted to his family and friends, he enjoyed visiting with them often. He also enjoyed four wheeling, mushroom gathering, and his daily trips to Dunkin' Donuts for coffee and fellowship.
Survivors include his sisters, Rachel Bergquist of Warwick and Esther Redman of Abilene, Texas; a brother, Harold Copeland of Boston; and many nephews and nieces.
Frederick was predeceased by his brothers, Glenn Copeland in 2004 and William Copeland in 1992, as well as his sisters, Emma Copeland McKnight in 1999 and Fannie Copeland Pippin in 1978.
A graveside service will be held in Warwick Center Cemetery in the Spring of 2007, at a date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the donor's choice of charity.
