Funeral services for Lloyd Ellington Turner, 84, of Lucedale and Jackson, were held Feb. 24 at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
He was born Aug. 4, 1909 and was a native of Leakesville. He was a retired timber buyer, and longtime resident of Lucedale.
Mr. Turner was a graduate of Mississippi State University. During the 1940’s, he served as assistant County Agent in Jones County, where his 4-H Clubs won several national judging awards.
He was a timber buyer for Harris-Wilcox Timber Company. He served as president of the George County chapter of the MSU Alumni Association.
He was a member of the Lucedale Rotary Club and had served as president. He was also the recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lucedale, where he was a life deacon. He died Feb. 22.
Mr. Turner is survived by a daughter, Eleana C. Turner, and a son, Lloyd E. Turner, both of Jackson; two grand-daughters, Helen Irene Turner and Rose Ellington Turner and a grandson, Nigel Reeves Turner, all of Jackson.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jett J. Turner of Jackson and Maurice Turner of Leakesville.
Services were conducted by Rev. John Turner. Interment was in the McLeod-Magnolia Cemetery in Leakesville, with George County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers included Hubie Parker, Mickey McAdory, Billy Ballow, Edd Evans, Guy McAdory and Tom Harris.
The family members request that all memorials be sent to First Baptist Church, Lucedale, or to the George County Alumni Association of Mississippi State University.
