Church in Rockdale with burial in I.O.O.F. Cem. Mr. Holley died Sat., 16 Mar at Richards Memorial Hosp. He was a Rockdale resident since 1973, having moved from Houston. He was born 24 Feb 1909 in the Liberty comm. in Milam County to James Edwin Holley & Nancy (Woods) Holley. He worked on Houston streets & bridges as a repair man for 2 years, then as a fireman in Houston for 31 years, retiring in 1970. He returned to Rockdale after working as a security guard for Houston ISD. Farming was his passion & he also enjoyed hunting & fishing. He married Gladys Jewel (Storey) Holley on 31 Mar 1934 in Cameron. He was a member of St. John's United Meth. Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers & 3 sisters. Mr. Holley is survived by his wife, Gladys Jewel Holley-Rockdale; son: Waymon Lee Holley & wife, Nona Holley-Houston; dau: Nancy Marie Friedrich & husband, James-Austin; bro: Foster W.
