Funeral for Charles Byron Mitchell, 88, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry and the Rev. Wade Griffith officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell died Monday, April 9, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Morgan County to Charles Malone Mitchell and Estelle Upchurch Mitchell. He was the retired operator and owner of Mitchell's Service Station and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He was the brother of the late Horace Mitchell and Maurene Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Mitchell; one son, Ray Mitchell of Huntsville; one daughter, Patsy Minor of Cleveland, Tenn.; one sister, Margaret Berzett of Decatur; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
