Silas Mathias (46167503)

Suggested edit: Silas N. "Bud" Mathias, 86, died at the Smithland Nursing Home Sunday Morning at 5:15 following a lingering illness.

Mr. Mathias, a well known farmer of this section was born May 17, 1872, and was a son of Jacob R. and Asenita C. Mathias.

He married the former Miss. Minnie Whitmer in 1898 and she survives.

Also surviving are 11 children, Casper L. Mathias, at home, Noah, Chester, and Lory Mathias, all of Rockville, Md., Lewis Mathias, of Gaithersburg, Md., Stanley Mathias, of Bergton, Paul Mathias, of Hyattsville, Md., Sarah Geil and Norma Shipe, Broadway, Mattie Apperti, Hyattsville, Md., Lena Kibler, Miami Fla.

He also leaves four brothers, Jacob, Samuel and Fred Mathias, all of Mathias, Charles Mathias of Timberville, and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Cullers, of Gormania, W.Va., 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. from the Mathias Church of the Brethren. The Revs. Linden Wenger, Glen Garner and Edward Kerchensteiner will have charge of the services.
