Lonnie E. McKinney, age 62, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at 4:50 p.m. at Sharon Elms Nursing Center in Peoria, Ill.

He was born June 23, 1947, in Grassy, Mo., to James Ivan and Alma Lorene Baker McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son, Matthew McKinney of Peoria; his sister, Doris Marlene Boland of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his three brothers, Dale of Hendersonville, Tenn., Les of Parkersburg, Ill., and George of Geneva, Ill.

Lonnie worked as a security guard at Komatsu of Peoria for many years.

He also enjoyed researching his family genealogy, and he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Memorial funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, 106 NE Fourth St., Fairfield, Ill. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Schmidt-Haller Burial & Cremation Services is in charge of local arrangements.
